Swar Vyanjan - Matra (O/Oo उ/ऊ )

This set of matras of O/Oo उ/ऊ is used with a difference. They are marked below the alphabet कु/कू …, while with the alphabet र it is marked like रु/रू.

Encourage kids to pronounce the words loudly while writing. The picture cards also come in handy in identifying the object and the letters.

Swar Vyanjan - Matra (Ie/Iee इ/ई )

Children avoid learning when it becomes stressful. At this level, their group learning is very effective. Encouragement and patience is the key to success. These pictorial worksheets are created keeping this fact in mind.

I have tried to include the words in the successive order. In the beginning, we introduce the matra  of A/Aa, so in the next, the list of words include the matra of A/Aa and the next set which is being introduced and so on...

The next set of matras are of  Ie/Iee b@bZ . After filling in the matra in the blank kids have to rewrite the word.

Swar Vyanjan - Matra ( Aa / आ )

Little kids are very sharp and observant. We can get their attention with colourful pictorial worksheets. Since Hindi is our mother tongue thus identifying the picture and its pronunciation comes easily.

Teaching matras needs patience and time. Rather than asking them to write the words, ask them to fill matra in the blanks.

This method helps them to overcome their fear of writing and learning Hindi alphabets.

Swar Vyanjan - Matra (A ki matra)

When children have crossed the hurdle of learning the alphabets, the next step is to teach them the Matras of Swar (Vowels)

In Hindi language there are 13 Swar (Vowels) which are used as alphabets as well as signs (Matras), with consonants.

 Normally as teachers or parents we rush through this part of teaching. In fact this is the crucial time when kids need guidance and lots of attention to solve their on the spot queries.

They have a curious and inquisitive mind, if their doubts are not cleared they would always make mistakes with spellings in Hindi.

v is the first swar (Vowel) in the series of Hindi varnamala. All the Vyanjan (Consonants) end with the sound of  v. eg.  dv·] [kv·

Once children have learnt to identify the alphabets, half the battle is won. Hindi is not a difficult language to learn as it is our mother tongue. Learning to write is a difficult task for the little ones and one must have the patience to teach them to write.

Wax crayons are softer in comparison to wooden pencils and kids can write easily with colourful crayons.

Children pick up languages very fast. With the help of pictures, we can encourage them to identify the alphabets.

The picture matching worksheets are very helpful in identifying the objects/pictures with the correct alphabets and help the kids to improve their vocabulary.

Along with the worksheets we can create picture cards as well as the alphabet cards and ask the kids to sit in groups and encourage them to observe and match the correct alphabets.

Colourful and interesting pictures catch their attention and group learning helps kids to pick up fast.

Varnamala ( Swar, Vyanjan) 1 - Swar

The difficult task in teaching is to teach the basics of a language - alphabets. Children love colourful pictures, rhymes, music. They pick up very fast when they are taught with the help of colourful pictures and rhymes and retain them.

While introducing alphabets it is important to point out the articles around matching with alphabet sound. Since they are comfortable with their mother tongue so they should be encouraged to probe with the sounds and play with the alphabetical sounds. They should be encouraged to identify objects related to each alphabet.

Once they are successful with identification of alphabets then written form of alphabets is introduced. It is a herculean task for the kids, teachers and parents. It requires a lot of patience n perseverance to teach little monkeys to hold a pencil and write.

In Hindi Swar (Vowels) are 13.
