Creative writing -1 Concept Maps

The most agonizing moments for us parents are when kids come from the school with a topic and ask for our help to write a composition in 10 sentences or so. All of us have faced such situations.

While teaching I had a chance to discuss this problem with my sister. She suggested the idea of concept maps. I tried it in my classroom in the form of group activity and kids just loved it. Within no time they started creating their own concept maps, to write short passages as well as essays.

I’ve created concept maps on some very common topics In this post I’m sharing concept maps on four topics e.g. – My father/ mother/ family/ school.               

This is an effort to help kids as well as parents who struggle to write a simple passage/paragraph. Readers can suggest some more topics.

Pictorial Qizzes 1

Learning is great fun. School time doesn’t have to be about reading and writing only. There are other interesting things to do, such as quizzes.

School time is all about magical wonder years in a kid’s life when they get an opportunity to grow, learn as well as have fun. These pictorial quizzes are interesting and filled with fun.

Enjoy these worksheets along with kids. Let them sit in small groups and have fun in finding n colouring the correct words.

Primary School - Swar Vyanjan – 3 Varna Viched ( वर्ण विच्छेद )

In this post of Varna Viched ( o.kZ foPNsn  ) -3, kids are taught to identify the matra of swar and Vyanjan and divide the alphabets of the word.

e.g. -         Q~ $ v $ u~ $ v   & Qu

           ,  $ M+~ $ bZ        & ,M+h   

       Fk~ $ ,s $ y~ $ vk   & FkSyk

These worksheets are for Primary school kids of classes 4/5/6 and the instructions are given in the sheets.

Again I would like to emphasize that group learning and parental/teacher guidance is very important at this stage of learning.

Primary School - Swar Vyanjan – 1 Varna Viched ( वर्ण विच्छेद )

In the Hindi language, there are 13 Swar (Vowels) which are used as alphabets as well as signs (Matras) with 37 Vyanjans (consonants).

v is the first swar (Vowel) in the series of Hindi varnamala. It does not have a sign (matra) All the Vyanjan (Consonants) end with the sound of  v.

At Primary level, kids are taught the concept of Halanth ( ~).

Without the Matra of Swar (Vowel) v the consonants (Vyanjans) are written with Halanth ( ~ ). e.g.-

When all the consonants (Vyanjans) are added the matra of ‘v’ the halanth  ( ~ ) is removed and varnamala is written as follows-
